3-d Films Jumping At Box Office

Movie theaters showing films in 3-D are likely to see ticket sales jump an average
of 65 percent over similar theaters showing the same movie in 2-D, according to a
study by Nielsen PreView, unveiled at an exhibitors' conference in Amsterdam today
(Monday). The study compared theaters with a strong track record in attracting audiences
for action/adventure movies. This "like-to-like comparison," Nielsen said, demonstrated
that "consumers when given a choice, will choose 3-D." Moreover, the study found
that when theatres simultaneously exhibit two movies in 3-D their ticket sales double,
"indicating that one 3-D screen per theater may not be enough to satisfy consumer
demand." It also discovered that 48 percent of consumers are generally unaware that
a movie may be playing in both 3-D and 2-D at separate theaters in their area.

MTV ready to give Britney Spears a second chance

Britney Spears AFP/Getty Images/File Kevin Winter

June 27, 2008 () - Despite Britney Spears' lackluster performance at MTV Video Music Awards 2007, Van Toffler, president of MTV Networks Music Group, does no rule out Britney reappearing on the show this year! However, he wouldn't say if he was kidding!

"Everyone deserves a second or third chance, right?" Van Toffler, president of MTV Networks Music Group, told the Associated Press Friday, June 27, 2008

Asked if he was just joking, Toffler said, "Sorta."

"Who knows?" he added.

VMA 2008 will air live from Paramount Pictures Studios in Los Angeles on September 7.

Almost nothing went right for Britney during her performance of Gimme More at VMA 2007 on Sunday 09 Sep 2007. She was raunchily dressed in a black and silver glitter bikini, looked out of shape and appeared tentative on high heels as she attempted to lip synch to her song totally outgrooved by her backup dancers.

The underwhelming performance prompted comedian Sarah Silverman to remark, "She is amazing. She is 25 years old and has already accomplished everything she is going to accomplish in her life."

Jacob The Jeweler Jailed

Bling merchant to the stars Jacob The Jeweler has been jailed for two-and-half years after he was found guilty of lying to federal investigators. The jewellery designer, real name Jacob Arabov, pleaded guilty to the crime in October - a year after he was arrested in his Manhattan, New York store, accused of working with others to conspire to launder $270 million (?135 million) in drug profits. The money laundering charges were later dropped as part of a plea deal with prosecutors. The 43-year-old, who has sold gems to the likes of Kanye West and Sir Elton John, was sentenced at a Detroit, Michigan court on Tuesday . U.S. District Judge Avern Cohn, who presided over the case, told the court: "The nature and circumstances of the offense were deeply serious. He willingly participated in a mammoth drug conspiracy." Cohn also ordered the Russian native to pay a $50,000 (?25,000) fine and hand over $2 million (?1 million) to the U.S. government. After hearing the sentence, Arabov told the court, "I feel ashamed that I broke the laws of this country, a country that has been so good for me. I will carry this shame for the rest of my life." Arabov will report to a federal jail on 15 January 2009.

While one notorious cabaret testify eclipses their late achievements, the hard rock/heavy metal circle Great White would practically rather you remember their Grammy nomination for Best Hard Rock Performance, the over half a dozen one thousand thousand records they sold, and their dual pt album ...Twice Shy.

Formed in the other '80s by vocalizer Jack Russell and guitar player Mark Kendall, Great White were regulars of the L.A. club fit, playing their Led Zeppelin- and AC/DC-influenced metal to a cursorily ontogeny fan pedestal. Local wireless play and more gigging helped sell 20,000 copies of their independent releases, the Out of the Night EP and the uncut Stroke in the Dark, both released in 1983.

The EMI label took notice, signed the stripe, and released its self-titled, major-label debut a twelvemonth later. Stab in the Dark would be reissued by the label in 1987, the like year as the new album Once Bitten... appeared with the gain exclusive "Rock Me." The album went atomic number 78, merely 1989's ...Twice Shy took things even further thanks in no small section to the massive winner of the single "Once Bitten Twice Shy," a cover of a Mott the Hoople song written by Mott member Ian Hunter.

Retentive tours with Ratt and a co-headlined tour with Tesla unbroken the ring extinct of the studio until 1991 when the polished Hooked appeared with deuce unlike album covers, one a provocative side shot of a mermaid suspension off an lynchpin in midair and one less shameful with the mermaid still submerged. Aquiline went gold piece their 1992 follow-up, Psychotic City, sold less, leading to EMI saying good day to the stria with the 1993 digest The Best of Great White.

Sail Away from 1994 establish the ring on Zoo, while 1996's Let It Rock was released by Imago. A springy set of cover tunes featuring the put to work of their favourite band appeared as Great Zeppelin: A Tribute to Led Zeppelin, released by Cleopatra in 1999. That like year, Can't Get There from Here on the Portrait label gave fans their number one taste of Russell's new writing partnership with longtime friend and quondam Night Ranger member Jack Blades. Another set of covers formed the 2002 Cleopatra album Regain, just this time the choices were surprising, with the Cult's "Love Removal Machine" and X's "Burning House of Love" acquiring the Great White treatment.

Forgotten by the mainstream, they were brought stake into the calcium light when pyrotechnics used by the band sparked a fire in a Rhode Island nightspot on February 20, 2003, killing C citizenry, including the band's guitar player, Ty Longley. The 2004 reprint of Regain drew some media attention, since the Horizon label had granted it a new and now pathological form of address, Combustion House of Love. Trials concerning the fire continued on into 2006 as questions concerning world Health Organization authorised the pyrotechny were organism investigated. The band spent the lie of the year touring and performing some benefit concerts for victims of the fire. In early 2007 they began celebrating their 25th anniversary with some West Coast shows that were trussed to the release of VH1 Classic Presents: Metal Mania - Stripped, Vol. 3 and in the summer they released a young studio record album, Back to the Rhythm.

Guns N' Roses' new album leaked online

London (ANI): Nine tracks from Guns N' Roses' 14-years-in-the-making album Chinese Democracy have been leaked on the Internet. The nine tracks were posted on a little-known rock website, www.antiquiet.com. A poster named Skwerl made the songs available on June 18, without explaining their source, reports the Telegraph. The long-awaited sixth studio album from Axl Rose' band, which is reported to have cost in excess of 13million dollars, is rumoured to be finished, with the group currently in negotiations about a release. The poster read: "I always said that the more that Axl and Geffen jerked around trying to figure out how to release this finally finished album that we've all been waiting over 13 years for, the greater the chances would be that it would slip out of a pressing plant or office somewhere and wind up in the hands of some asshole with a blog. So..."

Sag, AFTRA Debate The Debate

Burst Ulcer Turns Johnston Into A Skinny Star

Actress Kristen Johnston has slammed reports she's suffering from an eating disorder - blaming her skinny new frame on a burst stomach ulcer. Gossip columns and Internet bloggers went into overdrive earlier this month when the 40-year-old 3rd Rock From The Sun star was spotted at an event in New York appearing to be alarmingly thin. But the statuesque star insists her drastic weightloss is the result of a nasty illness, and not an eating disorder. She says, "I realise I am too skinny now, and I'm not comfortable with it... While I was doing a play (Love Song) on London's West End, an ulcer I didn't know I had burst. I spent the next month and a half in the ward of a London hospital. I left there 40 pounds thinner than when I came in. It was a wake-up call and I knew I had to change everything... The combination of the ulcer, not drinking alcohol and my healthier eating habits melted the pounds away."
